Concept

KUS regards itself as a world in miniature. Here, students are prepared for adult life through daily routines in a small community. This learning process is achieved by participation and by taking on responsibilities. Not only do the students learn to adhere to those responsibilities but they also learn to gradually answer for their own way of living and learning.

KUS offers young people a space to live and learn. Living, learning and working are connected and the subjects studied on board are experienced first-hand whenever possible. KUS builds a bridge between young people’s lives of and adult life in a complex modern society. Due to its extraordinary context, the project offers young people a once-in-a-lifetime educational opportunity.

Fields of study
KUS provides more than lessons. It is a place for living, experiencing, studying and learning. Here, young people can fully develop their personality. The curriculum of KUS is made up of the specific fields of ship operation, stays in foreign countries, school lessons, projects and internships.
